Centre d’Art is happy to present the first edition of the Dominique Darr Grant.Dominique Darr is the founder of Centre d’Art, a place dedicated to art and beauty. She was a Parisian photographer who witnessed the birth and early days of Auroville and left a precious and extensive documentation of this period.Dominique had a strong desire to promote art, and to encourage and support the work of young artists, the DD Grant was created to honor her vision. This year’s edition was aimed at young Aurovilians from 14 to 30, photography is the main medium, in homage to Dominique Darr’s profession and passion. The inspiration for this year’s theme came from a quote from Gautama Buddha: “The Sun, the Moon and the Truth, three things cannot be long hidden”. The theme of the invisible and the hidden were explored and developed by the artists in very different ways. All of them captured the essence of the inscrutability of truth and are presenting their distinct visions of the perception of reality.
