The graduation in Transition School is the day where the students of 8th grade finished their studies there and will quit for a higher school. It was always a moment with some emotion for Foulax, as the students he had for 2 years were leaving. It felt a bit like when your own child is leaving home.Foulax chose to prepare photos and collage for each of them. Originally, it was just a little gift, some funny pictures taken with his first digital camera and some computer effects. But after some years, it slowly became more refined, more detailed, and obviously it was taking more and more time. The result was a collage where he tried to place each student with her or his classmates in some fantasy background, or in the palaces of Rajasthan, or in some buildings in Paris, or simply in some pictures of his garden. These collages were trying to be wild and out of mind to take a break from the more serious field of mathematics. That is why the title is about flying collages. Décollage in French means taking off.

About the artist

Foulax was a computer engineer when he came to Auroville in 1982. But after 2 years of programming here and there, he was contacted by Croquette, a teacher who did a lot for education, to give some class on computer and mathematics. And it was done! He started teaching math and computer science, then math only for many years in Auroville. He had the parents of his students as students!
