About us

AGATHE

Agathe was part of the Parisian fashion world before she joined Auroville. She has been a curator for Centre d’Art for many years. As an interior decorator Agathe’s specialty is the installation of the artwork in the gallery.

JANAKA

Janaka arrived in Auroville with the first caravan in 1969, he helped lauch the Centre d’Art in 2012 and has managed it ever since. He knows the gallery like the back of his hand and is always happy to share his wisdom with the rest of our team. He is our handyman and one of his specialities is framing.

MARCO

Marco is a photographer coming from Italy, he’s our communication manager.
With his sense of aesthetics, knowledge of arts and use of words mixed with a pinch of humor, he sees the essence of the artists’ work and shares it with the audience. Every month he organizes the Auroville photocircle.

MAUD

Maud is an architect who loves art and design. She’s the organizer and enjoys interacting with the artists and the team. She has an eye for arranging spaces and has great manual skills.

SASI

Sasi is a photographer and a teacher, he is very invested in education in Auroville. He is in charge of the darkroom and teaches analogue photography workshops every month.

SERGEY

Sergey comes from Russia, he manages the archives of Dominique Darr’s work and the scanning department. He looks after Phase-One, our high-quality scanner and our IT equipment.

SHANTI

Shanti is in charge of our finances and is our translation expert. She has got an eye for details, everything runs by her before getting out of the office, she’s a bit of our quality check inspector.

FRANCINE

Francine is the President of the Fonds de Dotation Art et Recherche in France. She’s a photographer and we enjoy her presence in Auroville a few months a year.

Centre d’Art is located in Citadines, a short walk away from the Town Hall parking.
